The use of decorative exterior brick was a characteristic of mid-century modern. The inspiration for these earrings were the ground floor windows of the Texas School Book Depository. The same building infamously tied to the JFK assassination. Though removed during restoration, many photographs with these design elements can be seen in the permanent collection of The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza.
